Who Was Man Of The Match? Eder Militao

Real Madrid was on a mission to keep their position on the top of the table and endure their positive trend. After a big win against Granada last week, they played host to Sevilla, one of their contenders in the top four. Carlo Ancelotti eventually opted for Marco Asencio to accompany Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema instead of Rodrygo as the front three.

The game initially did not start as they expected. Both sides were trading shots on goal but in fact, it was the visitor who took the lead. Rafa Mir, who shone in Tokyo Olympic Games earlier this summer, managed to head it home after taking advantage of Marcos Acuna’s corner kick.

Sevilla should have even doubled their lead if Rafa Mir’s shot on target had not been cleared away by David Alaba or Lucas Ocampos’s attempt from the long-range had not hit the post. Not long after, Los Blancos finally had their way back in the game as Karim Benzema showed his composure to tuck in the ball from a rebound.

The home side had to wait for their winning goal in the 88th minute as Vinicius Junior once again notched up another goal to add his tally this season. It was enough to keep them on the top. Mission accomplished.

However, Vinicius was not exactly the man of the match here. It was another Brazilian, Eder Militao. The 23-year old defender was dominant on the backline along with David Alaba after conceding. He did not only contribute at the defence but also provided an assist.
