Who Was Man Of The Match? Sergio Reguilón
It was the start of a new era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as new manager Antonio Conte, in his first home game secured a fine victory which saw Spurs comeback from a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.
Dan James scored the game’s opener, giving Leeds a deserved lead in the first half, just before half time. The Spurs team was booed off the ground at half time by the home fans, and rightly so. Spurs were lethargic, and nowhere in the game, and Leeds took the advantage.
Second half however saw a resurgent and hungry Spurs team who played the majority of the last 45 in the Leeds half and were rewarded for their efforts.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg scored the equaliser in the 58th minute to lift the mood in the stadium, and Leeds succumbed to the pressure again and fell behind to smart movement by Sergio Reguilón. Eric Dier’s free kick was heavily deflected onto the post, but the Spanish full back was there first to snatch on the ball, and found the back of the net, which turned out to be the match winning goal.
Spurs held on to the slender lead, giving Conte and the Spurs fan precious 3 points.
