Who Was Man Of The Match? Federico Chiesa

Juventus continued their rise to the top of the Serie A table after a well deserved 2-0 victory away at Lazio. The side from Turin had a torrid start to the campaign under new manager Massimiliano Allegri, but they seem to have found the right system with the right personnel as they find themselves in 5th place, 4 points behind 4th placed Atalanta, and 11 points behind league leaders Napoli who have a game in hand.

Juventus were awarded two penalties on either side of the half with Leonardo Bonucci scoring both of them, but it was Federico Chiesa who bossed the game, and is today’s man of the match.

Alvaro Morata earned the first penalty of the game in the 23rd minute, having been fouled by Daniel Cataldi, and Bonucci made no mistake in giving Juve the lead. That was the only goal of the first half, as the two sides went into half time with the away side leading.

Maurizio Sarri’s men came into the second half trailing but it was Allegri’s team who were on the front foot, and asking all the questions from Maurizio Sarri’s men, including his goalkeeper as Pepe Reina was forced into a couple of saves.

All that pressure from Juve came off in the last few minutes of the game, as Chiesa was fouled by Reina in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Bonucci stepped up and fired home to give Juve the 3 points.
