Who was Man Of The Match? Hakim Ziyech

Chelsea enhanced their chances of knockout rounds of the Champions League with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Malmo in Swedbank Stadion on Tuesday.

Thomas Tuchel’s side was disappointed in front of goal without strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner due to injury, and a breakthrough was difficult to come by until Hakim Ziyech converted Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross in the 56th minute.

Hakim Ziyech is our Man of the Match for this game.

Until then, the Champions League holders had toiled away in front of a boisterous home crowd, producing a number of chances but none that were clear-cut.

Chelsea put up a fantastic effort tonight, led by Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The 25-year-old, making only his fourth start of the season, saw a lot of the ball in midfield, creating three chances, winning 14 duels, and completing seven dribbles. He deserves a special mention.

As Chelsea pushed for a second goal, Thiago Silva’s attempt was cleared off the line, and Malmo goalkeeper Johan Dahlin saved Kai Havertz’s shot.

Christian Pulisic, a United States international, returned from injury to make the Chelsea bench, coming on as a 74th-minute substitute for his first minutes since August.

Chelsea has nine points after four games in Group H, putting them on par with Juventus. They face Zenit St Petersburg later on Tuesday.
