Who Was Man Of The Match? Leandro Trossard
Brighton came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday in Anfield, as Enock Mwepu and Leandro Trossard spoiled what might have been a perfect week for the Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Liverpool appeared ready to march on after goals from Jordan Henderson, and Sadio Mane placed them in command following a 5-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday and a 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Preston North End on Wednesday.
After being set up by Mohamed Salah, Henderson put the home side ahead in the fourth minute with a first-time effort from the outside of the penalty box, and Mane made it 2-0 with a diving header from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross in the 24th minute.
Brighton equalized in the 41st minute when Zambian midfielder and their summer signing Mwepu scored his first Premier League goal with a lovely long-range shot that flew past Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.
After the interval, Brighton took control and drew level in the 65th minute when Trossard outpaced his marker and sent a low effort past Alisson. Trossard is our Man of the Match today.
Three goals were ruled out following VAR tests in the end-to-end action at Anfield, with Mane’s for handball and Salah’s for offside, while Trossard’s attempt was canceled for offside at the opposite end.
Liverpool are now three points from the top behind Chelsea and Brighton are down to 6th.
