Who was Man Of The Match? Joshua King

The two senior managers, Rafael Benitez and Watford’s new boss, Claudio Ranieri, have to put aside their long friendship for the clash of their teams this weekend. Everton was the favorite as they were playing at their home turf. The Toffees were also on mission to bounce back after slumping to a bitter 0-1 defeat while hosting West Ham last weekend. Unfortunately, their hope dashed as they were trashed 2-5 by Ranieri’s men.

At first, the game was quite even. The home side took an early lead through Tom Davies but ten minutes later Joshua King equalised.

Benitez’s men even restored their lead as Richarlison found the back of the net. However, the trouble began as Emmanuel Dennis came off the bench. The Nigerian winger was involved in the attack which led to The Hornets’ second equaliser through Juraj Kucka.

Then, Dennis’s contributions in posing threat in the final third were more visible as he provided two assists for Joshua King’s double to add his tally before he himself put his name on the score sheet to seal a big win in Goodison Park. Such also ended their series of negative results in the last three fixtures.

The Norwegian forward Joshua King was eventually named the Man of the Match for his hattrick in this game. He was jubilant here as he managed to prove his former club that they may have made a mistake by selling him in the summer. King barely had a chance to play regularly last season in Everton before signing The Hornets.
