Who was Man Of The Match? Lionel Messi
PSG’s positive campaign in the Champions League endures this week. After missing their two megastars, Neymar and Messi last weekend, one of them was back on the pitch in the fixture against RB Leipzig. It was a thrilling encounter as both sides were trading goals at both ends.
The visitors took more of an initiative to create shots against Le Parisien’s defence line. At least, three decent chances were denied, two by Navas and one strike from Andre Silva was saved by the post. However, the home side was the one who opened the scoring. There was a swift counter attack led by Kylian Mbappe and Messi against three of Leipzig’s defenders. The French prodigy found the back of the net with a Jermain Defoe-esque effort. Afterwards, Jesse March’s men replied with Andre Silva’s equalizing header. After the interval, the German side scored another one to put them at front as Nordi Mukiele blasted it home. Yet, Pocchettino’s men did not panic. With the Argentine talisman on their side, they managed to turn it around. Messi did it by netting a brace. One was a combination with Mbappe and another one was from the penalty.

Messi was undeniably the man of the match. He was heavily involved in the build-up and attempted to score with five shots. The brace from the former Barcelona man was the difference.

Meanwhile from the visitors side, the Portuguese international Andre Silva was the highest rated player despite only playing for less than 90 minutes. His contributions, especially at the first half, with one goal and another attempt hitting the goalframe plus five more shots in the game showed his expected role as the frontman. Unfortunately, Leipzig had been wasteful in the six yard box during the game. They actually deserved to go home with a point in hand.
