Who was Man Of The Match? Mo Salah
Liverpool and Atletico Madrid played a breathtaking game of football. Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in one of the best group games of football in recent memory. It was a game of individual brilliance, referee decisions, VAR decisions, and a red card, where the away side came out on top. Mo Salah continues to be the best player in the world, and was today’s man of the match.
Liverpool were 2-0 up inside the first 13 minutes, as Mo Salah and Naby Keita produced two moments of brilliance. Salah again. One could see Diego Simeone shouting Tranquillo (calm down) as the home side trailed 2-0 early in the game, and the home side did just that. Antoine Greizmann scored 2 goals in 14 minutes as the two teams were back on level terms after 34 minutes.
The game was finely poised until Greizmann was sent off for his challenge on Roberto Firmino. Liverpool were a man up and had close to 40 minutes to take advantage of the situation. They did just that, as Salah scored Liverpool’s third. This one off the penalty spot after Diogo Jota was brought down by Mario Hermoso and the referee spotted to the penalty spot. Salah did not miss, and scored, what turned out to be the winning goal.

Atleti thought they had a chance to equalise, when the referee again pointed to the penalty spot, this time in Atleti’s favour. But VAR stepped in and the referee turned to the pitchside monitor. No Penalty!
The game ended 3-2, and Atleti would feel hard done by as the 19 times English Champions go home with all three points.
