Who was Man Of The Match? Roberto Firmino
Liverpool takes giant strides to the top of the Premier League after thrashing Watford 5-0 in Claudio Ranieri’s first game in command of the Hornets.
Jurgen Klopp, who took over as Red’s boss six years ago this weekend, made four changes from the team that drew 2-2 with Manchester City the week before, with Alisson and Fabinho missing out after playing for Brazil early on Friday morning. The visitors’ Caoimhin Kelleher began in goal but had little to do as Klopp’s side extended their good start to the season with a resounding victory.
Sadio Mane scored after only eight minutes, setting the tone for a thoroughly commanding Liverpool display and earning his 100th Premier League goal in the process.
Firmino scored the first of his three goals from a James Milner cross just before halftime. Firmino scored his second goal in the 52nd minute and completed his hat-trick in injury time.
Firmino is our Man of the Match for today.
Mohamed Salah deservedly scored a goal with another spectacular solo effort. He also provided a beautiful assist for Mane in the first half. The Egyptian is now level with Didier Drogba for the most number of Premier League goals scored by an African player.
The Reds’ undefeated run in all competitions now stands at 18 games, and they are now top of the Premier League.
