Who was Man of the Match? Andros Townsend
Manchester United are held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at Old Trafford on another disappointing day in the Premier League for the Red Devils.
Anthony Martial scored his first Premier League goal since February shortly before halftime, and Solskjaer’s gamble to start Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench looked to pay off.
Ronaldo’s second-half arrival, his 200th Premier League game, appeared to boost United. Still, Everton took the lead eight minutes later when Andros Townsend completed a scorching breakaway from a United corner.
Andros Townsend looked threatening throughout the game, and his work rate was immense. He is our Man of the Match for this game for his marathon effort and a counter-attacking goal.
With 20 minutes remaining, Solskjaer substituted Fred for Pogba, and Ronaldo fizzed an attempt over goal before Pogba blasted one over. In the 85th minute, Mina slid the ball home, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
United tried for a winner but couldn’t find it. A frustrated Ronaldo went straight down the tunnel at the final whistle as Solskjaer’s team tripped up once more.
Manchester United has now won two games from six in all competitions, and their Premier League schedule currently reads: Leicester (away), Liverpool (home), Tottenham (away), Man City (home).
The pressure is mounting, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to recharge his batteries over the international break.
For the time being, Manchester United is second in the Premier League, with Everton third on goal difference. So far this season, both teams have four victories, two draws, and one loss.
