Who Was Man Of The Match? PSG 2-0 Manchester City

Who was Man Of The Match?  Gianluigi Donnarumma

Lionel Messi’s spectacular goal gave Paris Saint-Germain a 2-0 victory over last season’s finalist Manchester City at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday in the Champions League.

This was Messi’s first goal for PSG since his summer move from Barcelona. It came against a Man City team currently led by Pep Guardiola, Messi’s former Barcelona coach.

PSG took the lead in the eighth minute with Idrissa Gueye’s stunning finish, a lead City should have knocked out when Bernardo Silva struck the crossbar from three yards in the first half, but Messi’s latest piece of magic dashed their dreams of a comeback.

Kevin De Bruyne was lucky to only receive a yellow card for a high lunge on Gueye before Donnarumma, who was making his Champions League debut, began to impress with a fine save on the stroke of half-time to keep Ruben Dias’ towering header from finding the net, as PSG went into the break with their noses in front.

On a night that will be remembered for Magical Messi’s brilliance, Gianluigi Donnarumma was brilliant with a commanding performance on his debut. He is our Man of the Match tonight.

City pounded the PSG goal in search of a late lifeline by Donnarumma. Still, his defense stayed firm as Pochettino’s squad delivered a Champions League statement.

After a tense night in the French capital, PSG rises to the top of Group A with their first Champions League victory of the season, while City drops to third after an impressive away win for Club Brugge, who sits at second.
