Who was Man Of The Match? Michail Antonio
In a thrilling match at Elland Road, West Ham United won 2-1 against Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday, capping off an excellent week for the Hammers.
Michail Antonio scored the late winner on his return from suspension, keeping Leeds winless after six games. He is our Man of the Match for this game.
West Ham made a strong start after their tails had been up with a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford earlier this week. Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier was kept busy by Antonio and Said Benrahma before Raphinha scored against the run of play to put the home side ahead going into the break.
VAR was involved in a very open game. Tomas Soucek’s goal was overruled as VAR spotted a foul by Antonio on Meslier in the build-up.
West Ham kept on probing, and they managed to score an equalizer when Jarrod Bowen’s effort got deflected off Firpo.
With time running out, West Ham cut Leeds open when Declan Rice supplied Antonio from the right side, who turned his man into the centre before planting a neat finish beyond Meslier.
West Ham is now in seventh place, while Leeds is in 18th place after failing to win in their first six Premier League games for the first time since 1935.
Michail Antonio’s impressive run in the Premier League continues, and the Hammer’s striker now has 5 goals and 3 assists to his name.
