Who was the Man of the Match? Allan Saint-Maximin

Both Leeds United and Newcastle United entered the pitched having not won a single game, and were left frustrated with a 1-1 draw. It is still early season, but Steve Bruce, along with Newcastle fans should prepare themselves for another tough season ahead. However, performances like yesterday, especially that from Allan Saint-Maximin will provide hope. Saint-Maximim continued to impress for Newcastle United yet another time, and for that performance, he’s our Man of the Match.

Newcastle United found themselves trailing early in the game, after Rafinha’s delicious cross deceived the Newcastle goalkeeper, Karl Darlow and found the back of the net. However, Newcastle pushed, and attacked the Leeds goal, and played with a real spirit. Matt Richie hit the post in the 35th minute, and Newcastle finally breached the Leeds defence on the stroke of half time. Saint-Maximin got the ball on the edge of the box, dribbled through the defence, while he waited and waited, and finally found his spot, and the back of the net. It was a world class finish from the 24 year old Frenchman.

Both Leeds and Newcastle went for the win, but there were no more goals, and the game finished 1-1. Newcastle will face Watford away next week, and will hope to win their first game of the season. Newcastle United with just 2 points from 5 games find themselves in the first of the three relegation places.
