Who Was Man Of The Match? Arsenal 1-0 Norwich City

Arsenal’s gloomy days are finally over. After a string of defeats, the international break appears to be a blessing in disguise for Mikel Arteta’s men. They could take a step back and refocus on improving their campaign this season. A game at home this weekend against Norwich their chance and Pierre Aubameyang and Co really knew how to take their home advantage in this relatively less challenging fixture compared to their previous three outings.

Despite the vast possession, the Gunners were struggling to find the opener until that moment came on 66th minute. A single goal from Gabonese striker after nudging the ball into the net provided their first three points. The man of the match, however, was not Aubameyang, but the assist provider Nicolas Pepe. Throughout the game, he was making significant contributions, not only on the offensive side with his attempts to shoot or cross but also in defending. Their new summer signings, Takahiro Tomiyasu and Aaron Ramsdale made his debut and performed quite well. It was not an easy win but enough to help them bounce back from the bottom of the table.

Daniel Farke’s men, on the other side, were rather unfortunate. Norwich’s defence was actually quite solid, especially on both sides as Brandon Williams and Max Aarons who were strong in covering the wings. Dutch goalie, Tim Krul, also denied several chances despite conceding one. Brandon Williams, who is on loan from Manchester United, blocked shots, made goal-line clearances and made important tackles during the game to avoid more concessions. The Canaries can’t let this negative trend go on for too long, not in the premier league. Their next game is at home to Watford, their Championship rivals from last season.

Brandon Williams’s Stat Overview:
