Who Was Man Of The Match? PSG 4-0 Clermont Foot

The absence of their superstars, Leo Messi and Neymar, did not appear to have a significant impact on PSG this weekend. While hosting the newly promoted side, Clermont Foot, they still have a slew of qualified players up front, including Kylian Mbappe, Rafinha, Julian Draxler, and Mauro Icardi, to fill the void left by those two South American aces while hosting the newly promoted side, Clermont Foot. Le Parisien ran rampant and crushed the visitors 4-0. The man of the match, however, was not one of those forwards. Ander Herrera, the midfielder, deserved it. His brace was the game’s most obvious contribution, but the former Manchester United man also did well defending. He assisted, intercepted, cleared the ball as well as intervening when opposition counter-attacked.

The match did not look so easy at first until the home side broke the deadlock. Mauricio Pocchettino’s men gained confidence after Herrera’s brace in the first half. Kylian Mbappe finally put his name on the scoresheet after rounding the ball before passing it into the empty net. He should have added his tally as he had wasted a number of decent chances. Idrissa Gueye’s header finally sealed their big win at their home turf. PSG’s triumph here shall be enough to keep them on the top of the table.
