Who was Man Of The Match?
The BATTLE of the German coaches and the highly anticipated Lukaku vs Van-Dijk.
Each of these teams have not yet been stretched in their first two games, but we were all interested in one duel in this game, and one duel only: Virgil van Dijk versus Romelu Lukaku. What a great matchup between two world class players. Be honest here, you got the popcorn out for this game didn’t you, because we certainly did.
Today’s encounter lived up to the hype, Chelsea had the game in their hands after Havertz headed Chelsea into the lead. The game notched up a gear in the dying minutes of the first half after Reece James’s clearance was later reviewed by VAR to be a penalty which ultimately led to his sending off. The highly tense penalty kick was coolly and calmly converted by Salah who made it 1-1 at the half.
The draw will be seen as a setback for both teams but we are sure Thomas Tuchel is the happiest of the two managers. Ten-man Chelsea showed a magnificent showing of tenacity to cling on for a 1-1 draw with Liverpool. The current European champions were excellently organized and will be pleased with the result. We thought Edouard Mendy and Mo Salah were the best performers for Chelsea and Liverpool, respectively.
